Inklaim Pilot project

Pilot project for IP firms

Try Inklaim's patent drawing software for 4 weeks on already published patents

The pilot project is a 4-week trial inside your firm: 3 to 6 of your draftspersons and patent attorneys redo with Inklaim the drawings of 3 matters that are already filed and published, and together we compare time and quality with the hand-drawn sheets. It starts once a non-disclosure agreement is signed.

In short

What is the Inklaim pilot project?

The pilot measures Inklaim on your firm's real work, not on a demo we prepared. You choose 3 published matters, your draftspersons redo them with Inklaim, and at the end you compare time and quality with the sheets that were filed. The financial terms of the pilot are agreed before it starts.

Inklaim is web software from an Italian start-up founded in Turin that prepares draft patent drawings, checked against EPO, UIBM, USPTO, PCT, CNIPA and KIPO rules, from 3D CAD models (STEP/IGES), DXF or vector PDF files, photos of an object, sketches and claims.

Why published matters

A fair comparison, against a reference already on file

A published matter already has its hand-drawn sheets, so you have a real benchmark: same object, same figures, same patent office.

  • Text and figures are already public: no invention that is still secret enters the pilot.
  • The client's source files, such as the 3D model, remain covered by the non-disclosure agreement, and the data is stored in the European Union.
  • The patent attorney already knows the matter and what each figure has to show.
  • Unpublished matters are included only after a written agreement.

Week by week

How does the 4-week pilot work?

This is the typical schedule. Before week 1 there is a demo on a sample matter and the signing of the pilot agreement with its confidentiality clause.

WEEK 1

Kick-off

Your contact person chooses the 3 matters and the team. We create the accounts with their roles (patent attorney, draftsperson, reviewer) and show the workflow from file to sheet. If you know it, you note down how long the sheets took by hand.

WEEK 2

First matter

The draftspersons upload the source files and prepare the sheets of the first matter: views from the 3D model or cleanup of DXF and PDF drawings, reference numerals, layout for the patent office.

WEEK 3

Second and third

The team works on its own on the other two matters, using the consistency check, automatic figure numbering and the table of figure texts. Every obstacle is reported with the “Feedback” button.

WEEK 4

Comparison

The patent attorney reviews the exported drafts. We compare time and quality with the sheets on file, and you decide whether and how to continue.

Every week the team fills in a short questionnaire. The answers feed the final comparison and let us fix right away whatever does not work.

What you test

The five areas draftspersons asked us for

On every pilot matter the team puts to the test the five areas Inklaim was built around.

Sheets from the 3D model

Orthographic views, sections A-A and exploded views from STEP or IGES files, at the same scale on the sheet.

Patent drawings from 3D CAD →

Simplified figures

Holes, fillets and small hardware removed from the 3D model; dimensions, title block and center lines removed from DXF and vector PDF files.

Simplifying patent figures →

Consistency of the matter

Same numeral, same part in every figure; reference numerals aligned between text and drawings.

Consistency check →

Figure numbering

FIG. 1A, 1B and the references in the text updated when you move a figure; “Renumber all” with your firm's numbering scheme.

Automatic figure numbering →

Texts and translations

All the texts in the figures in one table, with optional translation following the matter's glossary.

Texts in patent drawings →

And everything else

Flowcharts from method claims, import from Word, export to PDF, SVG and DXF.

All features →

What your firm provides

Three matters, a few people, a browser

  • One contact person and 3 to 6 people, draftspersons and patent attorneys.
  • 3 matters already filed and published, with their hand-drawn sheets.
  • The source files: 3D model in STEP or IGES, DXF or vector PDF drawings, sketches, and the application text in Word.
  • Chrome or Edge: nothing to install on your computers.
  • A few minutes a week for the questionnaire.

Native SolidWorks, Inventor or Creo files are exported to STEP first; DWG files are saved as DXF.

What we provide

Access, support and a serious comparison

  • An initial demo on a sample matter, from the STEP file to the exported sheet.
  • Accounts for the team, with roles; the reviewer views and approves without editing.
  • The “Feedback” button on every page of the app, to report a problem right away.
  • Data in the European Union and optional AI: your firm turns it on or off.
  • The final comparison of time and quality, with the numbers collected over the 4 weeks.

What we measure

Time and quality, on your own sheets

We do not promise you a percentage of time saved: we measure it with you, matter by matter.

WhatHow it is measured
TimeHours from the source files to the exported sheets, against the time of the manual work.
Formal rulesUsable surface area, characters at least 0.32 cm high, sheet numbering and text matter that is not indispensable, according to the office of the matter.
ConsistencyReference numerals across figures, description and claims; every FIG. cited, and in order.
Touch-upsHow much the draftsperson had to correct on the draft.
AssessmentThe judgment of the patent attorney who knows the matter.
Inklaim “Checks” tab with consistency warnings on reference numerals and figures cited in the text of the matter
The “Checks” tab: each warning takes you to the figure to fix.

Demo and pilot request

Put your firm forward for the pilot

Fill in the form: we reply by email to schedule the demo and discuss the terms. If you prefer, write to info@inklaim.com.

  1. We write to you to schedule a demo on a sample matter.
  2. We agree on team, matters, schedule and financial terms.
  3. We sign the pilot agreement with its confidentiality clause, and the pilot starts.

The form needs no data from your matters. Inklaim is a service of Innovazione su Misura di Catana Petronela, Via Val Della Torre 81, 10149 Torino (TO), Italy, VAT no. IT12533670019.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the pilot project

How much does the pilot cost?

The financial terms of the pilot are agreed with your firm before it starts, together with the team, the matters and the schedule. The prices of the plans are public on the Inklaim pricing page.

Do we have to upload confidential matters?

No. The pilot uses 3 matters that are already filed and published. Unpublished matters are included only after a written agreement.

How much time does it take from the firm's staff?

The time needed to redo the sheets of 3 matters over 4 weeks, plus a short questionnaire every week. The schedule adapts to your firm's workload.

Do we need to install anything?

No. Inklaim runs in the browser, in Chrome or Edge. The data is stored in the European Union; the details are on the security and data page.

Is the AI mandatory?

No, it is optional and your firm turns it off with a switch. The AI does not draw geometry: the lines come from the model, the drawing or the sketch.

What happens at the end of the 4 weeks?

We review the comparison of time and quality together. Then you decide: continue with a plan, for example Firm or Enterprise, or stop there.
