Convert patent drawings to TIFF, PDF, PNG, SVG and DXF

Turn a drawing sheet into a black-and-white TIFF at 300 dpi for e-filing, a scan into a PDF, a client's DXF into an A4 sheet for the chosen office, a drawing into SVG or DXF. Free, no sign-up, and the file is not kept.

No AI: the conversion runs on Inklaim's own code, one page at a time.

The most common conversions

  • PDF or image → TIFF in black and white at 300 dpi, compressed like e-filing images.
  • Image → PDF: the image on a page of its own size.
  • PDF page → PNG at 300 dpi.
  • DXF or vector PDF → A4 sheet as PDF, SVG, DXF, PNG or TIFF, within the usable surface of the chosen office.
  • Image → SVG or DXF, traced along the lines.

In short

What does the free converter convert?

The Inklaim converter reads PDF, PNG, JPG, TIFF and DXF files and returns PDF, PNG, black-and-white TIFF at 300 dpi, SVG or DXF, one page at a time. Vector drawings (DXF and vector PDFs) become an A4 sheet within the usable surface of the chosen office, with their own lines; images go through the vectorizer when you ask for SVG or DXF.

It is free, you do not need an account and the file is not saved.

PNG, JPG or TIFF image, PDF pagePNGAt the file's resolution; PDF pages at 300 dpi.
Image or PDF pageTIFFBlack and white at 300 dpi, Group 4 compression, like e-filing images. It is also the way to bring a scan to 300 dpi black and white.
ImagePDFThe image on a page of its own size.
DXF, vector PDFPDF, SVG, DXF, PNG, TIFFThe drawing becomes an A4 sheet within the usable surface of the chosen office, with its own lines. Texts and dimensions are not converted, and the result says so.
Image, scanned PDFSVG, DXFTraced along the center of the lines, as in the free vectorizer.

It does not read SVG or DWG input: save a DWG as DXF from your CAD program first.

What the converter does not do

  • It converts one page at a time: for a multi-page PDF, choose the page number.
  • From DXF and vector PDFs it keeps only the geometry and fits it to the A4 sheet: texts, dimensions and title block are not carried over.
  • It does not simplify the drawing: to remove dimensions, center lines, hatching and details, use the 2D import in the app, described on the page about simplifying patent figures.

Your files

  • No account and no copy: the file stays in memory only for the conversion and is then discarded.
  • Neither the file nor its name ends up in the service logs.
  • No AI.
  • Files up to 10 MB, at most 30 runs per hour.

FAQ

Questions about the converter

How do I get a drawing sheet to 300 dpi black and white?

Upload the PDF or image and choose TIFF: the result is black and white at 300 dpi, with the compression used for e-filing images.

Can I convert a DXF to PDF for filing?

Yes: the DXF becomes an A4 sheet within the usable surface of the chosen office. Texts and dimensions are not converted, so reference numerals have to be added, for example in the Inklaim editor.

Does it convert DWG files too?

No. Save the DWG as DXF from your CAD program, then convert it.

Is the converter free?

Yes, with no account. Files up to 10 MB and at most 30 runs per hour.

From the converted file to a sheet ready to file

In Inklaim the client's DXF becomes a clean figure with the matter's reference numerals, checked against the office rules and exported as PDF, SVG, DXF or PNG for the whole matter.
