Free tools for patent drawings

Three online tools for anyone preparing patent drawing sheets: a drawing checker against the office rules, conversion between PDF, TIFF, PNG, SVG and DXF, and vectorization of scanned drawings. They run on the same engine as Inklaim, with no AI, and files are not kept.

The three tools

Which tool do you need?

Drawing checker

A4 sheet size, resolution, color, margins, line weight and text height, for the EPO, PCT, UIBM, USPTO, CNIPA and KIPO. From a PDF (up to 10 pages), PNG, JPG or TIFF.

Converter

Black-and-white TIFF at 300 dpi for e-filing, PDF, PNG, SVG and DXF. DXF files and vector PDFs become an A4 sheet for the chosen office.

The patent drawing converter →

Vectorizer

A scanned drawing or an image becomes a line SVG, traced along the stroke and laid out within the usable surface of the chosen office.

In short

Why are they free, and what happens to the files?

The Inklaim free tools ask for no account and keep no files: each file stays in memory only while it is processed and is then discarded, and neither the file nor its name ends up in the logs. They use no AI: measurements, conversions and lines are calculated on the file.

They are free because they are a sample of the work Inklaim does on whole matters. The only limits are on usage: files up to 10 MB and at most 30 runs per hour.

Tools and app

What the tools do, and what Inklaim does

Free tools

  • One file at a time, and one page at a time for conversion and vectorization.
  • They tell you what is wrong with the sheets you already have.
  • No account, no file saved.

With an Inklaim account

  • Drawing sheets are laid out from the start, from 3D models, DXF, PDF, sketches, photos and claims.
  • “Fix all margins” corrects one figure or the whole matter in one click.
  • The check compares figures, description and claims; the export prepares the whole matter for the chosen office and language.

FAQ

Questions about the free tools

Do I need to sign up?

No. The tools work without an account. If you want to work on whole matters, you can create an Inklaim account.

Are the files saved?

No. The file stays in memory only while it is processed and is then discarded; neither the file nor its name ends up in the logs.

Do the tools use AI?

No. Checking, conversion and vectorization are calculated on the file with Inklaim's own code.

Are there any limits?

Files up to 10 MB and at most 30 runs per hour. The checker reads PDFs of up to 10 pages; the converter and the vectorizer work one page at a time.
